What's new#

Chat#

• Chat History (Arctic menu): every line since the game started, across servers, searched as you type, with saved keyword filters (diamond, trade, -spam) and a copy button.
• A second chat on screen: the new Filtered chat HUD widget shows the newest lines that match one of your filters.
• Longer scrollback on every version (1.8.9 to 26.3): the game's 100-line limit is now a setting, up to 100,000 lines.
• Emoji and symbols: type :heart: or :star: and it sends the symbol, or pick one from the Emoji and Symbols page.

Packs#

• Groups for resource packs and shaders, in the launcher and in the game (the same groups in both). Files never move.

Launcher#

• Gentle launch (Settings → Launching): a few downloads at a time and the game starting at low priority, for computers that freeze under load.
• Optional desktop shortcut, a background picture of your own, and an instance settings button on the Play tab.
• Gameplay videos show on the instance's Replays page, with Play, Show in folder and Trash.
• Offline accounts show the face of the skin they wear; the Microsoft sign-in page looks like Arctic.
• Screenshots grow out of their cell when opened and shrink back when closed.
• Importing a world can take it from your other profiles' instances too.
• Forge and NeoForge instances say why the Arctic Client isn't available there.
• Cosmetics Check (Arctic menu): shows whether the game is signed in to Arctic, the UUID it plays as, and what lookups found, for "why can't they see my cosmetics?".
• Emotes card in the Arctic menu to rebind the emote wheel key.
• A text box cursor everywhere in game: arrows, Home/End, selection with Shift or the mouse, Ctrl+C/X/V.

Fixed#

• Offline accounts with "invalid name or key": an unreadable saved key is replaced instead of being sent empty. If the name was claimed with the lost key, use your recovery code. Sign-in attempts and failures are now written to the launcher log.
• Auto reconnect goes back to the server you were joining (also when you were kicked while joining), supports delays from 0.1 s and a tries limit, and works on 1.21.11.
• Leaving a server, or cancelling a join, lands on the server list; the game's own multiplayer and disconnect screens no longer flash before Arctic's.
• 1.8.9 zoom sensitivity now matches newer versions; the zoom sensitivity is a stepper.
• Minecraft settings that an older game doesn't know (entity distance, for one) are no longer reset when you play that older version.
• Mods built for Legacy Fabric (Legacy OptiFabric and others) are found in the Modrinth browser on 1.8.9 to 1.13.
• Screenshots pop up right away; copying no longer holds the pop-up back.
• A death waypoint and "Last death" no longer carry over between worlds with the same name.
• A HUD widget dropped on the bar comes back where you can grab it.
• Starting another Vanilla version while one runs says why, instead of an "in use by another process" error.
• The replay on/off switch, and the videos folder opens in your file manager.
• The logs page keeps scrolling while you drag-select text.
• Copying a server address in the server editor works.

Known issues#

• Waypoints can step instead of gliding while you move (under investigation).
• Some players report HUD widgets missing until they open the emote wheel (under investigation).
