What's new#
Arctic Client (in game)#
- Motion blur and item physics (dropped items lie flat and tumble as they fall), on 26.1–26.3 and 1.8.9–1.12.2. Both are in Mods → Visual.
- 1.8.9–1.12.2 catch up: the minimap, duels and switching accounts in game.
- 3D cosmetics on every version (1.8.9 to 26.3), with a soft shine on sculpted pieces. New: 20 sculpted cosmetics, 2 HD animated capes, 50 skins and an arms slot.
- HUD: new widgets take your HUD style; Arrows and Held show just the item; the Compass pointer color can be changed; World time and Entities have proper icons.
- Servers that ask whether you use Arctic or Polarium (like BotPvP) now get an answer.
- Offline accounts can be added from the in-game Account page.
- Looks (skins, capes, cosmetics, emotes) are now chosen in the launcher only; the emote wheel stays in game.
Launcher#
- Windows search finds the launcher: it adds itself to the Start menu.
- Feedback: suggest a feature or report a bug from the launcher, with cleaned-up logs if you like.
- Instances can keep their own settings instead of sharing them with your other instances.
- Modpacks: a Modpacks banner on the Instances page, drag-and-drop
.mrpackinstall, and.zippacks with a Modrinth index install too. - Discover → Partners: servers hosted with Flash Hosting.
- Import lets you pick exactly what to bring in from another launcher.
- Styles: Classic is a black theme now, and the new Vanilla style keeps Minecraft's own menus.
Faster starts#
The game reaches the title screen several seconds sooner: only the Fabric API parts in use are loaded, classes are loaded ahead on other cores, the game's own classes aren't re-verified, files aren't re-checked on every start, and the loading screen fades out faster.
Fixed#
- Copying screenshots to the clipboard works again.
- 26.3 no longer crashes at startup, and joining servers no longer fails with a "Network Protocol Error".
- Each launcher page keeps its own scroll position.
- Polarium copied for the wrong Minecraft generation no longer stops the game from starting.
